Holiday Fun at Capital City Mall,
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, December 4th

We had so much fun at the Capital City Mall's 25th Anniversary celebration in October that we came back for their holiday festivities.  We started the day by decorating a holiday tree with custom-made tags to accompany 100 Chunky Monkey dolls donated by Pauline Comanor and the Capital City Mall to the Four Diamonds Fund.  Shoppers had the chance to sign a tag, and contribute $20 to the fund, which was founded in 1972 by Charles and Irma Millard to help finance various therapies for young cancer patients.  All the dolls went to kids hospitalized at the Milton Hershey Medical Center.

Snowmen galore appeared on paper, adding to the holiday spirit, at least inside the mall. Lots of cartoon snow was abundant in the sketches, even though the sun was shining. Julie took off with Frosty, who melted pretty fast in the unseasonably warm weather.
Kayleigh had a chat with Chunky Monkey.  A photo of this sketch, along with Pauline and Kayleigh, also appeared with an article about Pauline as the lead story on the front page of the Carlisle, Pa., Sentinel, which began:

"The New Jersey woman, who has made appearance around the world doing her Cartoon-In shows, had kids and adults alike at the Capital City Mall in Camp Hill awestruck and jumping around like monkeys.
Crowds of shoppers gathered around to watch her lightning-fast fingers create a cartoon of Chunky Monkey sharing bananas with Kayleigh, 10."

Pauline did a really fast sketch of Popeye for Jan, the reporter from the Sentinel.  Also at the mall that day, was a news team from WHP-TV.
